KCC Silicone Launches Silicone Coating Solutions for Exterior Waterproofing 2026-05-22

KCC Silicone has launched three silicone waterproof coating solutions for sustainable exterior building waterproofing applications: SL8311, SL8511, and SL8611.

SL8311 is a transparent silicone-resin waterproof coating designed to deliver more than 10 years of weather resistance while preserving the original texture of existing surfaces. It also provides contamination protection and simplifies maintenance. In addition, its excellent adhesion enables broad compatibility with a variety of substrates.  

SL8511 is a colored silicone-resin waterproof coating offering more than 10 years of weather resistance along with excellent coverage that helps conceal existing contamination. The coating also provides strong adhesion to a variety of substrates, helping protect surfaces from future contamination while simplifying maintenance.

SL8611 is a silicone-resin coating for rooftop waterproofing applications that delivers more than 10 years of weather resistance. Its white finish helps reduce building energy consumption through heat-reflective properties. The coating can be easily applied in one or two coats without a primer, simplifying the application process.


Hyundai Jeoksun Building: The First Project to Apply KCC Silicone’s Coatings

Located near Gyeongbokgung Station, Hyundai Jeoksun Building is more than 40 years old. Exterior renovation work was carried out to give the aging façade a more modern appearance while improving durability through enhanced waterproofing and wind resistance.

A representative from Hyundai Jeoksun Building explained that KCC Silicone’s coating solution was selected to reduce long-term building maintenance costs. Silicone coatings are known for their exceptional durability—often considered semi-permanent—and their effectiveness in surface protection and maintenance. In addition to protecting surfaces from water, contaminants, UV rays, and moisture, the coating enhances waterproofing performance by preventing water penetration. Its hydrophobic properties allow water droplets to roll off easily and dry quickly, significantly reducing the adhesion of dust and contaminants.

Previously, silicone coatings depended heavily on imported materials, resulting in unstable supply and high costs. However, KCC Silicone, a leader in the localization of foundational materials, successfully developed silicone coating technology domestically through its own R&D capabilities.

Ahn Myung-soo, Senior Researcher of the Sealant/Adhesive Technology Team at KCC Silicone, who led the product research, emphasized that the company’s silicone coating technology operates at an entirely different level from conventional organic coatings.

“Silicone coatings are inherently expensive due to raw material costs. However, KCC Silicone manufactures its own silicone resins and related materials while also possessing extensive formulation and application technologies. Leveraging these capabilities, we launched Korea’s first 100% silicone coating, SL8311. This product dramatically improves coating durability, comes with a 10-year warranty, and can be used almost permanently. For project owners, this means significant savings by reducing recurring repair work caused by poor quality, while also minimizing maintenance burdens. Ultimately, this provides greater cost competitiveness over the long term.”

The successful domestic launch of this innovative silicone coating technology reflects KCC Silicone’s expertise, technological capabilities, and strong commitment to material localization.
